Exceptional Experimental trio Son Lux has remixed Vincenzo Ramaglia’s single ‘La parole 7’, which was released via PEM Records and premiered via Mxdwn.

The original track appears on Vincenzo Ramaglia’s album "La parole", which features vocals sung by the French songstress Laure Le Prunenec (who has been the lead singer of worldwide-acclaimed band Igorrr). The single follows IDM duo Plaid’s remix of Vincenzo’s ‘La parole 3’ as well as Alvo Noto’s rework of ‘La parole 1’, adding to the growing list of remixes created by prominent artists such as μ-Ziq, Shigeto, Emika, and Venetian Snares.

Originating from New York, USA, Son Lux has operated as something akin to a sonic test kitchen. The band strives to question deeply held assumptions about how music is made and reconstruct it from a molecular level. What began as a solo project for founder Ryan Lott expanded in 2014, thanks to a kinship with Ian Chang and Rafiq Bhatia too strong to ignore. The trio strengthened their chemistry and honed their collective intuition while creating, releasing, and touring six recordings. The result is a carefully cultivated musical language rooted in curiosity and balancing opposites that largely eschews genre and structural conventions and can be compared to Brian Eno, Apparat, and Rival Consoles.
The trio was awarded the title of Best New Artist on the media organisation’s All Songs Considered show. On screen, they have scored soundtracks for numerous motion pictures including the blockbuster film Looper, the trilogy The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, and most recently the multi-award-winning Sci-fi comedy Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Son Lux share their thoughts on the remix: “Starting at the end of the original and ending at its beginning, our remix of Vincenzo Ramaglia and Laure Le Prunenec's ‘La parole 7’ functions as both a continuation and a left turn. We selectively followed sonic elements and motifs on a hallucinatory journey towards annihilation and rebirth.”
